Dr Wee congratulates newly elected office bearers of MCA divisions

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has congratulated the newly elected MCA office bearers who won in the party’s divisional-level elections.

The MCA president said it's time now for the leaders to start focusing on party affairs to ensure that they do not disappoint the delegates who have given them the mandate to lead.

"Congratulations to those who are newly elected and those who have successfully defended their posts," he said in a Facebook post on Monday (June 12).

"My appreciation goes to those who participated in the general assembly and the elections for fulfilling their responsibilities as delegates in the spirit of democracy," he added.

For those who did not win in the elections, Dr Wee said not to give up and continue to support the party.

"All of you are the biggest motivation for the party to move forward. I hope that everyone can do their part in contributing to the country, society and community," he said.

The MCA division level general assembly was held last Saturday and Sunday (June 10 and 11) involving a total of 36 MCA divisions (19.1%), nine MCA Youth divisions (6.9%) and seven Wanita MCA divisions (4.2%).

Dr Wee recently announced that he has stepped down as Johor Baru MCA division chairman after holding the post for 15 years.

The new Johor Baru MCA division chairman is its former Youth chief Bong Seng Heng, who edged out deputy chairman Ang Boon Heng for the post during the division polls – by clinching 152 votes to Ang’s 45.
