SIBU: A 21-year-old man has been arrested for having in his possession drugs worth RM402,052 on Monday (June 12).
"We believe that the drugs were for entertainment outlets. We want all entertainment centres here to ensure that their premises are drug-free," said Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Zulkipli Suhaili at a press conference on Tuesday (June 13).
He said the suspect was nabbed from his rented apartment on Jalan Wong King Huo.
The man, with three previous drug-related offences, had used the apartment to store drugs for the past six months, added Comm Zulkipli.
During the raid on the apartment, he said the Narcotic Crime Investigation Department found 71 coloured plastic packets labelled "Juice Master" containing powder suspected to be a mixture of ecstasy (2.294g), 1,511 ecstasy pills (566.73g), 43 transparent plastic packets containing crystal powder suspected to be ketamine (273g) and 26 white plastic packets containing yellowish lumps and white powder suspected to be ecstasy (25,447g).
Zulkipli said the police had also confiscated a four-wheel drive from the suspect worth RM146,000.
A urine test was conducted on the suspect and it came back positive for methamphetamine.
The suspect is being remanded for seven days for investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act (ADB) 1952 and Section 15(1) of the ADB 1952.
The charge, framed under Section 39B (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, provides the death penalty upon conviction.
