Possible flash floods in Kluang, Kota Tinggi, Pontian within next 12 hours, says DID


JOHOR BARU: The National Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (PRABN) under the Irrigation and Drainage Department (DID) has issued a preparedness notice for possible flash floods within 12 hours in three districts in the state.

According to the notice issued at 5pm Wednesday (June 14), flash floods are expected if significant rain continues to occur in several locations in the districts of Kluang, Kota Tinggi and Pontian.

The areas in Kluang district that are at risk of being hit by flash floods are Mukim Ulu Benut, Mukim Kahang and the surrounding areas, while in Kota Tinggi, the areas that could be hit are Mukim Johor Lama, Mukim Ulu Sungai Johor and Mukim Sedili Besar.

“In Pontian, the areas at risk are Mukim Ayer Masin, Mukim Rimba Terjun, Mukim Pontian, Mukim Api-Api, Mukim Ayer Baloi, Mukim Sungai Pinggan, Mukim Benut and the surrounding areas,” it said in a statement.

The notice of preparedness was issued to enable all residents, especially in high risk areas, to be aware of the possibility of flash floods during that period.
