Body found floating in waters near Bagan Datuk

IPOH: The body of an unidentified man was found floating in the waters off Pulau Sembilan, Bagan Datuk.

Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Perak director Kapt Mohd Hambali Ya'akup said some local fishermen discovered the body and alerted the agency at about 3.35pm on Wednesday (June 14).

"A team was sent to the location and arrived there at about 4.45pm, and we retrieved the body out of the waters.

"The body was brought back to the fishing jetty at Kampung Acheh before being handed over to the police for the next course of action," he said in a statement on Thursday (June 15).

"We urge the maritime community to go to the nearest police station if any of their family members are missing or have not returned home for more than 24 hours to help with the investigations.

"Any information, emergencies or reports related to maritime crime can be forwarded to the MMEA at 05-683 8738 or the Malaysian Emergency Response Services 999," he added.
