Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the Madani Medical Scheme is a pilot initiative of the government to help sustain the health needs of the B40 group, especially for primary care services for acute cases with private general practitioners (GP).
"From June 15 all Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) recipients will benefit from the Madani Medical Services with GP who are registered in the vicinity of the 10 districts," said Dr Zaliha in a statement on Thursday (June 15).
She said the scheme is offered automatically to STR recipients to assist them with treatment of acute cases.
The free treatment covers consultation, check-ups, medicine, procedures and referrals given by the GP to the beneficiaries according to their packages.

"The recipient can receive an unlimited number of free treatments until the allocation is exhausted. The limit for each household is RM250 with a family, RM125 for senior citizens (single) and RM75 for singles," said Dr Zaliha.
Dr Zaliha said the acute cases under the scheme consist of treatment for fever, diarrhoea, vomiting and sprains, headaches, light trauma and other illnesses.
She said treatment for non-acute cases which are not covered under the scheme can be treated at the health clinics under the ministry.
"The scheme in the 10 districts will benefit 700,000 households. Recipients will only have to show their MyKad when receiving treatment with the GPs who are registered under the Madani Medical Scheme," said Dr Zaliha.
"The Health Ministry under ProtectHealth is targeting 700 GPs to register as panels under the scheme by September. Currently four briefing and training sessions for GPs have been conducted and a further 10 sessions are planned," she added.
