Singapore PM’s wife, minister make courtesy visit on Johor Sultan

JOHOR BARU: Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar has received a courtesy visit by the wife of Singapore Prime Minister Datin Paduka Ho Ching and the island republic’s Home Affairs and Law Minister K. Shanmugan.

The Sultan said this shows the long-standing cross-border friendship and goodwill continues with not only increased people-to-people social visits, but also close contacts between top leaders from both countries.

Permaisuri of Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Binti Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah and Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim also graced the meeting at Istana Bukit Serene here on Friday (June 16).

In a statement posted on Sultan Ibrahim’s official Facebook page, the courtesy visit follows a similar visit to Singapore by Sultan Ibrahim on May 13 this year at the personal invitation of Shanmugam, during which the Ruler was feted to lunch in the island republic.

Sultan Ibrahim spent close to an hour engaging in friendly casual talks over tea with Ho and Shanmugan.

His Majesty has always advocated that Johor and Singapore should take advantage of their close geographical proximity to seize mutual benefits in business, trade and industry, as well as to forge closer bonds of friendship and understanding between the people on both sides of the Causeway.
