JOHOR BARU: Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar received a courtesy visit by the Singapore Prime Minister’s wife Datin Paduka Ho Ching and the republic’s Home Affairs and Law Minister K. Shanmugam.

Also gracing the meeting at Istana Bukit Serene here yesterday were Permaisuri of Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah and Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim.

A statement posted on Sultan Ibrahim’s official Facebook page said the courtesy call followed a visit to Singapore by Sultan Ibrahim on May 13 this year at the personal invitation of Shanmugam.

Sultan Ibrahim spent close to an hour engaging in friendly talk over tea with Ho and Shanmugam.

The statement said that the long-standing Johor and Singapore cross-border friendship and goodwill continues with not only increased people-to-people visits but also close contacts between top leaders from both sides.

It added that His Majesty always advocated Johor and Singapore taking advantage of their close geographical proximity to seize mutual benefits in business, trade and industry, and to forge closer bonds of friendship and understanding between the peoples on both sides of the Causeway.
