MACC: Probe still being conducted into political party using gambling money in GE15 campaign

SERDANG: Graft-busters are still investigating a report lodged over claims that a political party had used gambling money to fund its general election campaign, says Tan Sri Azam Baki.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner said while he could not disclose the name of the political party, he could confirm that an investigation is being conducted.

"I cannot disclose which political party is involved. We are still investigating following the report lodged on the matter," he said.

Azam said this when speaking to reporters after launching the Malaysia Corruption Watch (MCW) annual general meeting at Universiti Putra Malaysia on Saturday (June 17).

On May 30, an individual lodged a report with the MACC and submitted documents, urging an investigation over the allegations that a political party received funds from gaming companies, which was also used for the polls.
