LHDN raid politically motivated, says Muhyiddin

PETALING JAYA: Perikatan Nasional has described a raid by the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) on its senior leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin as politically motivated.

Perikatan chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said just like in his case, the raid against Hamzah, who is the coalition’s secretary-general, was politically motivated.

“There is no other reason. It is also as if they only focus on PAS, Bersatu and others.

“I hope they will stop doing this. Give us a chance. This is a democracy,” Muhyiddin told reporters after launching the Penang Perikatan Convention in George Town yesterday.

On Tuesday, Hamzah’s house was raided by the LHDN due to alleged unreported income tax.

When approached in Terengganu, Hamzah refused to entertain questions from reporters.

“A lot of slander has been hurled at me and I am not going to answer all these as it has been shared widely,” he told reporters after launching the Marang Perikatan Nasional election machinery at Binjai Rendah, Terengganu.

The Perikatan Nasional secretary-general said he would sue those he claimed had slandered him.
