IPOH: I will forever be with Umno no matter what, says Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman.
The former Pasir Salak MP said he was not aware of a claim that there would be Umno "warlords" joining the Perikatan Nasional coalition.
“I don't know anything about that. I will continue to support the party and the president. The party has done a lot for me.
“Even though there are parties who offered me a place, I will always be with Umno,” he told reporters during a press conference at Impiana Hotel, here Saundy (June 18).
On June 12, Perikatan Nasional secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said there will be an announcement "soon" on 10 Umno "warlords" joining the Perikatan Nasional coalition.
Separately, Tajuddin hoped that Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will reconsider his (Tajuddin’s) suspension.
“I have done everything I can. I wrote to the Supreme Council three times, had meetings with them on multiple occasions, kissed their hands and even my wife had personally met with Ahmad Zahid to talk about my suspension.
“I wonder what I have done to be treated in such a way. No one told me what I did, not even the supreme council.
"Have I cost the party some losses to be thrown out this way?” he asked, adding that he hoped Ahmad Zahid will re-evaluate the matter.
“I don’t know whom Ahmad Zahid is listening to, and what he has been told about me.
“But my heart will still be with Umno. The party has done a lot for me and vice versa,” he said.
Tajuddin was removed from the Umno supreme council in June 2022 before the supreme council suspended his membership for six years in October.
He was also dropped as Malaysia's ambassador to Indonesia in July, 2022
In January, the Umno supreme council rejected Tajuddin’s appeal against the six-year suspension.
To date, he has submitted three appeals to revoke the suspension but all were rejected
