IPOH: A total of 257 children aged six to 12 participated in the Bazaar Junior Perak event aimed at helping to build and develop young entrepreneurs.
Perak Women, Family, Social Welfare and Entrepreneur Development Committee chairman Salbiah Mohamed said the one-day programme was organised by the Junior Chamber International Kinta (JCI Kinta) in collaboration with the state government.
"The event provides a platform for participants to generate innovative ideas, develop their own product or service and deal with customers," she told reporters after officiating at the programme on Saturday (June 17) night.
Meanwhile, JCI Kinta president Tan Teck Yin said this is the second programme to be held this year and 60 stalls selling various items such as food, drinks and ornaments were run by the children.
She said 10% of the proceeds from the sales would be channeled to charitable organisations.
Meanwhile, Zulfarihi Faris Zulkifli, 10, from Yayasan Amanah An-Nur Maisarah, Chemor here said it was enjoyable to run the stall together with his friends.
"We sold fruits, rojak sauce and drinks. This is our first business experience and even though it was tiring it was all worth it to see customers buying our products," he said. - Bernama
