GEORGE TOWN: Sustainability in exports will be discussed at length at the Export Excellence Awards (EEA) 2023 Roadshow on June 26 at G Hotel Gurney.

Industry players attending the event are in for an interesting, rewarding and meaningful session as panellists of different industries convene to share insights and best sustainable practices in the export industry.

The panel discussion will examine how businesses can be aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and capitalise on the growing demand for sustainable products.

Moderating the session will be Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) Oil & Gas, Chemical and Energy Section deputy director Edison Choong.

He is also Matrade’s Sustainability Task Force deputy lead whose team drives the environmental, social and governance (ESG), SDG and sustainability agenda.

Joining him as a panel speaker is Northeast Precision Sdn Bhd chief executive officer and managing director Chong Ewe Hean whose vision, professionalism and leadership together with the commitment to explore new technologies and enhance customer support have brought Northeast tremendous growth year on year.

Attendees of the roadshow will learn about how logistics industry exporters can integrate sustainable logistics practices into their operations from PKT Logistics Group Sdn Bhd chief executive and managing director Datuk Seri Michael Tio.

The third panellist is EG Industries Bhd and SMT Technologies Sdn Bhd group chief executive officer and executive director Datuk Alex Kang, who was honorary adviser to the Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce.

Attendees will also get to learn more about the role banks play in promoting and facilitating sustainable financing for businesses including exporters from Standard Chartered Saadiq Bhd (Islamic business and head of products) executive director Bilal Parvaiz.

The EEA Penang Roadshow is a part of the EEA programme, which is organised by Star Media Group in partnership with Standard Chartered, with PKT Logistics as co-sponsor, Matrade as patron, and BDO as the auditor.

The roadshow will begin at 10.30am with a networking session before the panel discussion, followed by a Q&A session and a networking lunch thereafter.
