SHAH ALAM: It was like a farewell gathering when Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Amirudin Shari and his executive council attended an event held at the state secretariat.
The event, to review the state government’s accomplishment over the past five years, came hours after the proclamation of dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly was signed by Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
The highlight of the event was a montage of the state’s achievements under Amirudin’s stewardship.
Amirudin said he and his exco line-up would function as the caretaker state government after the dissolution on Friday.
He explained that as caretaker state government, he and his team could implement existing policies, but not formulate new ones.
“There are some matters from the last two exco meetings that can be implemented,” he said.
On another matter, the Mentri Besar said seat negotiations between Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional had ended, but with several seats still undecided.
He said the contentious seats would be looked at by Pakatan Harapan chief Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his Barisan Nasional counterpart Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Amirudin also said the Pakatan presidential council would sort out talks with Muda for the state polls.
Pakatan had worked with Muda in the general election last year.
He also told reporters he was confident Pakatan and its partners could secure a two-third majority in the coming elections.
“Not impossible for us to repeat our 2018 (GE14) success by winning more than 50 seats. So far, we are very positive and confident that we can retain (the administration) with a two-thirds majority,” he told a special media conference in conjunction with the fifth anniversary of his administration.
