PETALING JAYA: A man has been found dead in the toilet of his house in Taman Kelisa, Sungai Petani.
Kuala Muda district police chief Asst Comm Zaidy Che Hassan confirmed the incident and said police found the body at 1.10pm on Monday (June 19).
According to ACP Zaidy, a team from the Criminal Investigation Department and Forensic Unit from the district police was sent to the location.
"The report was made by a neighbour after the 58-year-old man's wife tried to reach him from 11am to 12.30pm but her calls went unanswered.
"The wife contacted the neighbour and asked him to check on the husband.
"When the neighbour went to the house, he found the iron grille closed but unlocked, with the main door open," ACP Zaidy was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian.
He said the neighbour immediately called for an ambulance after seeing blood in the guest room.
He said the man's body was found in a seated position, with his face in the toilet bowl and a slash wound on his left arm.
"After further checks, we found a paper cutter in the guest room," ACP Zaidy added.
The body has been sent to Hospital Sultan Abdul Halim in Sungai Petani for a post-mortem.
