Selangor Sultan and Tengku Permaisuri leave for Holy Land

SEPANG: Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin have left for Mecca to perform the haj.

A special aircraft carrying Sultan Sharafuddin and Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin took off from the Bunga Raya Complex, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) here, at 3pm on Tuesday (June 20).

Among those accompanying the royal couple to the Holy Land are state mufti Datuk Dr Anhar Opir, Sultan Salahuddin Mosque imam Abdul Aziz Shah Abdul Karim Maaseng Al-Makki,and Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) Travel and Services manager Syahrimi Ilias.

The Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah was present to send off the Sultan and Tengku Permaisuri.

The royal couple and their entourage are expected to return home on July 4.

The Sultan announced that he had performed the hajj in 2002, and for this year’s haj season, he would perform the pilgrimage with the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor.

The government of Saudi Arabia announced that Wukuf Day is on June 27, and Aidiladha is on June 28.

Muslims in Malaysia will celebrate Aidiladha on June 29. – Bernama
