SEREMBAN: The Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar and all state executive committee members will return their official vehicles before the start of the campaign period for the upcoming state polls.
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said in principle, they could still use the official vehicles after nomination day in their capacity as the caretaker government, but have decided against it.
"We will only use the cars if there is official business. Otherwise, we will not be using the vehicles or any other government facilities for campaign purposes although there is no law against this," he told reporters after chairing the state exco meeting here on Wednesday (June 21).
Aminuddin will be seeking the consent of the Negri ruler Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir next Wednesday (June 28) to dissolve the state assembly.
If all goes well, the state assembly will be dissolved on June 30.
Aminuddin had also decided against using his official car when he contested for the Port Dickson parliamentary seat in the general election in November last year.
Asked if he would still be using the services of his official driver, Aminuddin said he would as he was still the caretaker Mentri Besar.
"The driver is paid (a monthly salary). So, it will be all right to use his services," he said.
On a separate issue, Aminuddin said no Pakatan Harapan assemblymen in the state have indicated that they do not wish not to contest in the coming polls.
"It looks like they are all keen to continue serving. They haven't told me anything but their candidacy will depend on their parties," he said.
Pakatan holds 20 seats in the state assembly while the remaining 16 belong to Barisan Nasional.
Asked if the state Pakatan and Barisan would come up with a joint manifesto, Aminuddin said this would be decided at the top level.
"The presidential council will decide on this. If they decide on a joint manifesto, I am sure we can make some additions at state level," he added.
