Nine Perak Bomba personnel disciplined for misconduct

IPOH: A total of nine officers and personnel from the Perak Fire and Rescue Department will be disciplined for committing various forms of misconduct.

Its director Sayani Saidon said among the cases reported were drug abuse, khalwat and falsifying documents.

"We have terminated the services of those involved in the khalwat case and the officer in the falsifying documents case is still in court.

"The remaining seven cases were for drug abuse, with three under the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) while four are currently undergoing trial," she said during a press conference at the department's headquarters here Wednesday (June 21)

"Reducing disciplinary cases in our team is one of the many challenges for me and the management.

"To combat drug abuse, for instance, we will be conducting random urine tests at all stations in the state. Should any of our personnel test positive, we will refer them to AADK for rehabilitation.

"However, if we find out that they keep taking drugs, we will not hesitate to take disciplinary action including termination of services," she said.
