Razarudin, Ayob Khan will lead cops to greater heights, says Lam Thye

KUALA LUMPUR: The appointments of Tan Sri Razarudin Husain and Comm Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay as the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and Deputy IGP, respectively, will hopefully bring the police force to greater heights, says Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye.

The Alliance for a Safe Community chairman said it represents a perfect combination, given the vast experiences of both men.

"I hope as the country's top two cops, they will transform the police force into a force of integrity that will be able to earn the respect of all Malaysians.

"I also hope that they will be able to overcome various challenges in the police force" he said when contacted on Wednesday (June 21).

Lee said strengthening the integrity of the police force should be a priority for the new regime in Bukit Aman.

"Matters of integrity should not be forsaken.

"I also hope that service delivery for the people will be improved," he said.

Aspects of welfare, including taking care of the mental health of all officers and personnel should also be prioritised, Lee said.

Lee said the onus is on Razarudin and Comm Ayob Khan to upgrade the performance of the police force and to look after the welfare of the police officers and personnel.

"I have no doubt the appointments of these highly respected senior police officers will lead to good things for the police force.

"I certainly welcome their appointments," he said

It was previously reported that Razarudin was appointed as the IGP while Comm Ayob Khan was appointed as Deputy IGP, effective Friday (June 23).
