Eight dams in five states at alert level


PETALING JAYA: Eight out of 43 dams in the country are at alert level, while another four water treatment plants are at warning level, reported the National Water Services Commission (SPAN) in their statement.

Five states are impacted including Johor, Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Perak.

The statement listed the water levels recorded on Thursday (June 22).

The water level of Timah Tasoh Dam is recorded at 26.84m, slightly exceeding the minimum level at 26.00m. Pedu Dam was recorded to be at 89.60m, below the minimum level of 97.56m and Muda Dam 91.67m, also above the minimum level of 87.79m.

The water level at Malut Dam is recorded to be at 68.08m, also slightly higher than the minimum level of 66.00m, while the water level at Air Hitam Dam is 228.07m above the minimum level of 223.55m.

At Teluk Bahang Dam, the current water level is at 35.18m which is higher than the minimum level of 30.30m. The water level at Bukit Merah Dam is 6.99m which is above the minimum level of 5.48m.

Lastly, the Sembrong Barat Dam had a water level of 9.36m above the minimum level of 7.36m.
