King, Queen arrive in Madinah


KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah arrived in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday (June 21).

The special aircraft carrying Their Majesties touched down at the Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport at 4pm local time (9pm in Malaysia).

"Their Majesties, accompanied by Pahang Regent Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, as well as their children, were greeted by Madinah governor Prince Faisal bin Salman Al Saud," said a post on Istana Negara’s Facebook page Thursday (June 22).

Al-Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah are scheduled to be in Madinah and Makkah until July 1 to perform the haj.

The Government of Saudi Arabia had announced that Wukuf Day, which is the pinnacle of the haj rituals, is on Tuesday (June 27) while Aidiladha is on Wednesday (June 28).

Muslims in Malaysia will celebrate Aidiladha on June 29. - Bernama
