Over 90% of investment projects successfully implemented in Johor, says Tengku Zafrul

ISKANDAR PUTERI: More than 90% of investment projects that have been announced for Johor have successfully been implemented, says Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.

The Investment, Trade and Industry Minister said that Johor has a good track record of executing the projects, both announced by the state government or his ministry.

"In terms of execution, Johor is one of the best in the country.

"Sometimes, there are projects that could not be implemented. However, in Johor, almost 98% of all of the projects that were announced have been successfully implemented," he said.

He added that his ministry is committed to working closely with the state government to realise more projects and bring in more investments, especially in sectors such as petrochemistry as well as electric and electronics.

Tengku Zafrul said this to reporters when met after chairing the Joint Industry Coordination Committee meeting at Bangunan Dato Jaafar Muhammad in Kota Iskandar here,

He also said Johor has contributed about 30% of the country's exports in the first four months of this year.

“Both trade and investments are important, and in terms of contribution, Johor has contributed 30% of Malaysia's export value," he said.

Meanwhile, Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the amount of export that Johor has achieved between January and April was RM247.59mil, the highest in the country.

"Last year, we were in third place when it came to export, but I was just informed by the minister that we are now in first place," he said.

He added that the state is on the right track in achieving its target in terms of investment.

"Last year, we managed to get the highest amount of investment in the country and we are also now on the trajectory to achieve either the same amount or even better," he said.
