KOTA KINABALU: Six undocumented people were nabbed during a two-day integrated operation against crime in the Semporna district.

Semporna OCPD Supt Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said during this crackdown, a total of 295 houses were searched while 95 people were inspected.

“From the 95 people, six were found to have no identification documents and were nabbed,” he said in a statement Thursday (June 22).

Supt Farhan said the operation was conducted to trace and prevent crime such as smuggling, fish bombing and illegal immigrants.

It is also aims to prevent cross-border crimes and other subversive elements that could jeopardise the sovereignty of the state, he said.

“We are very thankful for the cooperation and commitment given for the success of this operation,” he said, adding that there will be ongoing efforts to combat crime in the district.

Supt Farhan said the cooperation between the Semporna police and other agencies as well as local communities will continue.

“We will not compromise on crime and will take stern actions against anyone who violates national and state laws,” he added.
