I will appeal RM10mil court decision, says Zuraida


PETALING JAYA: Former PKR vice-president Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin (pic) says the fight is not over although the court did not decide in her favour in the party's lawsuit against her.

"I will appeal. I have advised my lawyers to (do so)," she said when contacted immediately after the Kuala Lumpur High Court decision on Friday (June 23) morning.

The court ruled that Zuraida, a former minister and MP, had to pay PKR RM10mil for breaching a bond with the party following her involvement in the Sheraton Move in 2020.

Justice Akhtar Tahir also ordered Zuraida to pay RM50,000 in costs.

PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, who is currently Home Minister, sued Zuraida on behalf of PKR on Sept 28, 2020.

In the statement of claim, Saifuddin said Zuraida executed a bond through which she was bound to pay the party a sum of RM10mil in accordance with its terms and conditions.

According to the statement of claim, Zuraida, together with 10 other PKR MPs, announced her resignation from the party without resigning from her elected post of Ampang MP on Feb 24, 2020.
