Minister: New top cops can bring PDRM to greater heights

KUALA LUMPUR: Newly-appointed Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain and his deputy Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay represent a very solid combination that will bring the police force to greater heights, says Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

The Home Minister said the vast experience of both men would enable them to deal with the heavy responsibility as the top two leaders of the PDRM.

“I, the government and all Malaysians hope you will be able to continue Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani’s legacy in keeping the peace and harmony in the country,” he said after witnessing the handing-over of duty ceremony for the Inspector-General of Police and Deputy IGP posts at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) here yesterday.

Saifuddin Nasution said both Razarudin and Ayob Khan had been tasked to address hate speech, specifically those that touch on royalty, religion and race (3R).

He said the trend of such hate speech was problematic.

“Such hate speech if left unchecked will spell trouble for the country.

“I hope the top two leaders in the police force will focus on addressing the 3R,” he added.

On another matter, he said about 40,000 police officers and personnel would be deployed to the six states which will hold their elections.

“The police will ensure that the election process runs smoothly.

“It is important for the rakyat to be able to exercise their duty as voters without any fear or hindrance,” he said.
