State polls: Official cars will be returned before nomination day, says caretaker S'gor MB

PETALING JAYA: Selangor's caretaker administration will stop using their official cars and return it to the state government a day or two before nominations for the coming state polls, says Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

“We will stop using the official cars before nomination day. For now, there are several sub-committee meetings that need to be attended or chaired by the caretaker administration.

"So, a day or two before the nomination announcement is made, the cars would be returned,” the caretaker Mentri Besar said after meeting civil servants and community leaders at the monthly meeting on Friday (June 23) morning.

The Selangor Government has 11 official Toyota Camry 2.5 cars.

“I have given orders to the exco members to avoid the use of the official cars during political events or the campaign periods to ensure good governance," he said.

Meanwhile, Amirudin said in the five years of administering the state, he had faced major challenges such as the Covid-19 pandemic, floods in December 2021 and water contamination issues.

“We might not have resolved all matters 100% but had put in measures to handle it. Being meticulous and consistent in carrying out our decisions has helped us to deliver solutions to the people and maintain our progress for the state,” he said.
