Anwar, Loke not attending Mega Madani Selangor tour

SHAH ALAM: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Anthony Loke will not be attending the Selangor Jelajah Mega Madani event which was slated to launch the state election machinery and feature bigwigs from Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional.

This was confirmed by two of the Prime Minister's aides as well as an aide of the DAP secretary-general.

Earlier, it was reported that Barisan chairman and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi would not be attending the event.

Selangor Umno liaison secretary Datuk Abdul Mutalif Abdul Rahim said another event to officiate the collaboration of the election machinery of Barisan and Pakatan would be held at a later date.

"Selangor Barisan will not be involved. It is more of a Pakatan talk," he told The Star when contacted on Saturday (June 24).

According to an earlier itinerary posted on Pakatan's Facebook page, the event which will take place in Shah Alam on Saturday (June 24) night, was supposed be attended by Anwar, Zahid, Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, Loke and Selangor Pakatan chairman and caretaker Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

Selangor dissolved its state assembly on Friday (June 23), paving way for the state polls.
