Parents killed, three kids badly hurt in collision with cement truck on highway near Gerik


IPOH: Two people, believed to be a married couple, were killed during an incident involving their car and a cement truck at KM25 of the East-West Highway in Gerik.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department director Sayani Saidon said they received a call about the incident at about 1.10pm.

"The two victims were found trapped in their car and were pronounced dead by medical personnel.

"There were also three children, two boys and a girl, from the car who were injured," he said in a statement on Saturday (June 24).

"The bodies of the deceased have been handed over to the police for the next course of action," he said, adding that the driver of the truck was unharmed.

The deceased have been identified as Mohamad Nasir, 51 and Rohaya Harun, 46.

The three children, believed to be the deceased's children, have been identified as Mohamad Amir Zaqwan, 14, Nur Auni Batrisya, 12 and Mohamad Zarith, seven.

All three are seriously injured.
