SHAH ALAM: Pakatan Harapan cabinet ministers need to spend less time goofing around and concentrate on building the economy.
Datuk Seri Azmin Ali said the people are currently struggling with the economic situation but the Cabinet ministers are busy goofing around (main main) when they should be working.
"We have no time for prime ministers singing and Cabinet ministers busy cycling in offices or riding cows," he said during his speech at the state Perikatan election convention at the IDCC here on Saturday (June 24).
The former Gombak MP said this to video clips playing in the background showing Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim singing with Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil riding a bicycle in his office and Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu riding a cow.
Azmin was referring to Anwar's statement at the "Program Temu Anwar Negri Sembilan" at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) in Nilai earlier Saturday, who admitted that it would not be easy to attract investors because of the perception of instability as there is possibility of the government changing this August.
Earlier, former Tanjong Karang MP Tan Sri Noh Omar said the real "unity government" was under the leadership of former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
The former Selangor Barisan chairman said the Cabinet under Muhyiddin were from various political parties that could sit together in Cabinet but later contest against each other in the state elections.
"At federal level, I was a minister and so was Azmin, and Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah (from Bersatu).
"During the Johor and Melaka polls, we attended Cabinet meetings every week and later will go our separate ways to campaign for our respective parties," he said.
Noh, who was sacked from Umno earlier this year, expressed disappointment that Barisan had to cooperate with Pakatan, its long-time political enemy.
If Umno is a passenger (in the unity government), where has Barisan's greatness gone? Today Perikatan must stand up to replace Barisan to win the state polls" said Noh.
