State polls: Perikatan kicks off Selangor election machinery

SHAH ALAM: Perikatan Nasional has kicked off its series of state election conventions by taking potshots at Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional's "failure to unite".

PAS Youth chief and Pasir Mas MP Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said amongst others, Selangor Umno said it was not attending the launch of the state's election machinery on Saturday (June 24) night.

"Umno has stated that it will not attend tonight's Pakatan-Barisan machinery launch. They said that the invitation was not sincere.

"On top of that, DAP's Tony Pua lambasted the party's unity government partner Barisan as corrupt. Where is the unity?" said Ahmad Fadhil at the Selangor election convention at IDCC here on Saturday.

The crowd, mostly Malays with a sprinkling of Chinese and Indians, comprised members from Perikatan component parties Bersatu, PAS and Gerakan.

Earlier on Saturday, Selangor Umno chief Datuk Seri Megat Zulkarnain Omardin said they would not attend the launch of the election machinery as publicised by Selangor Pakatan.

Pua, at a recent DAP event, took a swipe at Pakatan's allies within the unity government by calling them "corrupt".
