State polls: Tengku Zafrul attends Sg Kandis ceramah to back Pakatan

KLANG: After being absent from Selangor Pakatan Harapan’s machinery launch on Saturday (June 24), several Barisan Nasional leaders joined their allies at a ceramah in Sungai Kandis ahead of the state polls.

Among them was Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, who is Kota Raja Umno chief.

At the Jelajah Arus Kuning ceramah, Tengku Zafrul said Pakatan will be able to defend the three state seats under the Kota Raja parliamentary constituency.

“We in the unity government are prepared to ensure that we defend these three seats,” he said during a brief speech at the event in Tapak Rakan Muda Sri Andalas here on Sunday (June 25).

He also said Kota Raja Umno is all geared up to support the unity government’s machinery to defend the Sungai Kandis, Kota Kemuning and Sentosa state seats, which fall under the Kota Raja parliamentary seat.

“These three seats are important so that we can make the Selangor government stronger.

“I am optimistic that if we show the same cooperation (between the unity government parties) as tonight, Insya-Allah the three state seats will be defended,” he said.

“What is important is that the unity government win”, he added.

Also present were Umno supreme council member Datuk Lokman Adam and Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

Lokman said during his speech that regardless of whether the candidates are from Pakatan or Barisan, they must be supported as they represent the unity government.

Previously, speculations were rife that Tengku Zafrul could be Barisan’s candidate for the Sungai Kandis state seat before his name was bandied around for the Kuang seat.

The Sungai Kandis seat is held by PKR’s Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni, while V. Ganabatirau (DAP) and G. Gunaraj (PKR) are the incumbents for Kota Kemuning and Sentosa respectively.
