RMAF training tragedy: Trainer's remains to be flown to Kemaman for burial


SEREMBAN: The remains of the 33-year-old Royal Malaysian Air Force trainer who was killed in a training incident at the Syed Sirajuddin Camp in Gemas will be flown to Kemaman, Terengganu for burial.

The Air Force said in a statement on Monday (June 26) the remains of Koperal Udara Syuib Bidin (pic, right) will be laid to rest at Kg Tok Kapur, which was his wife's village.

"His remains will be flown there from the Segamat camp to the Kemaman vocational college today and then taken to the Binjai mosque for prayers.

“After that, his remains would be buried at the Tok Kapur Muslim cemetery," it said.

The Air Force said 22-year-old Mohd Iqmal Masdi (pic, left), who died in the same incident, would be buried at the Kg Rawa Hulu cemetery in Lenggeng near here after Zohor prayers.

"His remains would be taken to his family's home for prayers before the burial," it said.

Mohd Iqmal was killed on the spot in the 12.20pm incident on Sunday (June 25) while Syuib died at around 5.45pm at Hospital Segamat.

The sole survivor in the weapons training incident at the Basic Grenade Training Site at the camp, Khairuzaman Lokman, 35, is currently receiving treatment at the hospital. His condition is stable.

All three were from the Sendayan Air Base Institute of Administration and Studies.

The Air Force had said the matter was being probed by the police.

It would also set up an Investigation Board to investigate the incident.
