SHAH ALAM: The state police are ramping up preparations for the upcoming state election with "hot seats" identified, says state police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.
They will reveal more as the polls near, he added.
"Readiness is high because we have time to prepare. God willing, it is going well from our equipment to the human resource aspect," he said.
He said this after closing a "training of trainers" seminar for domestic abuse at the contingent police headquarters here on Tuesday (June 27).
Comm Hussein said preparations started in May.
"We will update our readiness in terms of our training and the officers involved for the periods before, during and after the election.
"In Selangor, from our 15,000-strong force, almost half of them will be deployed for the election and we will also seek help from states not going through elections.
"It's still in the early stages now so leave will only be frozen when the time comes," he said.
On June 23, the 14th Selangor state assembly was officially dissolved, paving the way for state polls to be held.
With the dissolution of the 56-seat assembly, Selangor will be governed by a caretaker government until the new state government is formed after the polls.
Selangor is one of six states to hold their state elections after the 15th General Election was held in November 2022. The other five are Negri Sembilan, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.
