SEREMBAN: The Negri Sembilan legislative assembly will be dissolved on Saturday (July 1), says Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

The Mentri Besar said he had received the consent of the state Ruler, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, to do so earlier on Wednesday (June 28).

"I sought an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan this morning and Tuanku has given his consent to dissolve the state assembly.

"The assembly will hereby be dissolved on July 1 in line with provisions in the laws of the Constitution of Negri Sembilan 1959," he told reporters when met at Wisma Negri.

Aminuddin was seen entering the state Ruler's official residence at Istana Hinggap here at 10am.

He also chaired the last state exco meeting after his audience with Tuanku Muhriz.

The state assembly's term officially ends on Sunday (July 2).

In the 2018 general election, Pakatan Harapan won 20 seats while Barisan Nasional bagged 16.

It was also the first time that Barisan had been defeated in the state polls.
