Man dies while fixing roof of mother's house in Segamat


SEGAMAT: A man in his 60s died while fixing the roof of his mother's house here.

"The incident happened when the victim was fixing a roof on his mother's house with his brother and a friend.

"He suddenly fell unconscious and collapsed at about 12.50pm on Thursday (June 29)," said Segamat OCPD Supt Ahmad Zamry Marinsah.

He added that there were no injuries found on the man's body.

"A further investigation also found no signs of foul play. The victim's body has been sent to the Hospital Segamat forensics department for a post-mortem exam," he said, adding that the case has been classified as sudden death.

Meanwhile, Segamat Fire and Rescue chief Muhammad Hazim Abd Razak said that they received a distress call from the victim's brother at 12.38pm.

"Six firemen were deployed to the scene. When we arrived, we found the victim had been brought down from the roof. Medical officers at the scene later confirmed his death," he said.
