Traffic at Johor-Singapore land crossings smooth on Hari Raya Aidiladha

JOHOR BARU: Traffic at the two land crossings between Johor and Singapore is moving smoothly on Hari Raya Aidiladha.

State deputy police chief Deputy Comm M Kumar said that traffic from Johor to Singapore at both the Causeway and the Second Link are clear so far.

"There is an increase in vehicles coming from Singapore into Johor at both the Causeway and Second Link but traffic is still normal for now," he told The Star on Thursday (June 29)

He added traffic along federal and state roads in major cities in Johor is moving smoothly despite an increase in the number of vehicles.

"There is some slow-moving traffic along the North-South highway. To reduce the congestion, the emergency lane has been opened between KM19 and KM27 around the North Senai - Kulai area," he said.

On Wednesday (June 28), DCP Kumar said that police are anticipating high traffic volume in Johor in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha which falls on Thursday as well as on the weekend.

He said that Johor police are taking proactive measures to ensure a smooth traffic flow at the Sultan Iskandar Building here (BSI) and Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB) Custom, Immigration and Quarantine Complexes (CIQs).

“We have identified 47 hotspots and 27 black spots statewide where accidents are likely to happen," he said, adding that 267 police personnel would be deployed at intersections, traffic light junctions and on patrol duty to help road users in case of accidents.
