PLUS: Traffic crawl due to accidents, breakdowns

KUALA LUMPUR: Traffic on the North-South Expressway (NSE), which was reported to be slow-moving on Hari Raya Aidiladha evening, was mainly caused by accidents and vehicle breakdowns.

A PLUS Malaysia Bhd spokesperson said traffic was slow from Jawi to Bandar Cassia in Penang due to an accident at KM155.3 (northbound).

The accident caused a 5km congestion.

“There was also an accident at KM264.5 southbound from the tunnel to Ipoh (U).

“At KM263.4 northbound from Ipoh (U) meanwhile, a bus broke down, causing the left lane to be blocked,” the spokesperson told Bernama.

Also, an accident occurred at KM258.7 heading north from the tunnel towards Kuala Kangsar, causing a 9km congestion.

In Johor, state deputy police chief Deputy Comm M. Kumar said traffic from Johor to Singapore at both the Causeway and the Second Link was heavy but moving smoothly on Hari Raya Aidiladha.

He said traffic along federal and state roads in major cities in Johor was also moving smoothly despite an increase in the number of vehicles.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) said there was no congestion along the KL-Karak Highway (KLK) and East Coast Expressway 1 (LPT1) yesterday.
