PETALING JAYA: "I am completely shocked by the incident and can't believe what has happened," says the brother of the woman who was found drowned in Jeram Mawar, Air Putih, Kemaman on Sunday (July 2).

Syawalluddin Eiyi, 29, who last saw his sister Azizah Eiyi, 40, last Friday (June 30) said he is harbouring hope that the eight others in his sister's family are found safe.

He said he found out about the incident through social media before being told by police.

"I was told police had come to my parents' house in Felda Lepar Hilir 3, Gambang, Kuantan to inform them about the tragedy," he said.

"I also saw a photo on Facebook showing my sister's car license plate," he added.

Syawalluddin said seven of his nephews and nieces were involved in the tragedy, with the youngest just five years old.

"My sister and her husband went for a vacation with their seven children and a future in-law of the family," he said.

"They have been at the location before as my brother-in-law works in Terengganu. I never thought this tragedy will befall them and I pray some of them are alive," he said.

The bodies of Azizah and her son, Muhammad Zulqarnain Haikal Karim, 11, were found at 12.45pm along a riverbank at Jeram Mawar, Kampung Air Putih.
