PUTRAJAYA: The Science, Technology, and Innovation Ministry is offering free tickets to the National Science Centre in Kuala Lumpur and Alor Setar, Kedah as well as the National Planetarium for official trips involving school students.
Minister Chang Lih Kang said the move was in line with the Education Ministry’s initiative to encourage schools to organise educational visits as part of the efforts to strengthen the teaching and learning process.
"It is an integrated effort to support the government's policy of bringing science and technology closer to the people and instilling students' interest in Science, Mathematics, Engineering and Technology (STEM) subjects," he said in a statement today (July 3).
However, exhibitions in collaboration with external strategic partners are not included in the free ticket offer, he added.
On June 16, the Education Ministry issued a circular on the guidelines for educational visits involving government school students.
The circular also encouraged schools to organise educational visits for students and suggested private educational institutions registered with the Education Ministry to also use the guidelines. - Bernama
