Sabah top cop vows swift action against child sexual abuse videos

KOTA KINABALU: An operation to combat the viewing and circulation of child sexual abuse videos in Sabah is being planned, says the state police commissioner.

Datuk Jauteh Dikun said this operation is among the various initiatives planned to address the issue.

“We are aware that this happens here. There have been several arrests recently," he told a press conference here on Monday (July 3).

Jauteh said this was a serious matter that needed prompt action.

This comes after Bukit Aman Sexual, Women and Children Crime Investigation Division principal assistant director Asst Comm Siti Kamsiah Hassan revealed that Sabah ranks fourth in the country in terms of accessing such videos.

Earlier, Jauteh witnessed the handing over of district police chief duties between Supt Haris Ibrahim and Deputy Supt Sammy Newton at the Penampang police station near here.
