MELAKA: The revolving Menara Taming Sari Tower in Banda Hilir here resumed operations on Monday (July 3) following an earlier mechanical glitch.
Menara Taming Sari Bhd deputy chairman Mohd Noor Helmy Abdul Halem said the technical repairs on the 110m-tall tower began at 8pm on Sunday (July 2) night and were completed at 11pm the same day.
He said the incident caused 36 tourists to be trapped in the gyro platform, which was 60m above the ground, for 30 minutes on Sunday.
Helmy added that he had taken a ride on Sunday night accompanied by tourism authorities and found it safe for tourists.
"I went up on the revolving platform shortly after the incident," said Helmy, who is also Duyong assemblyman, on Monday.
The trapped tourists included 26 adults, eight children, a senior citizen and a person with disabilities.
The Melaka Fire and Rescue Department had overseen the rescue task.
