PETALING JAYA: Five out of 43 dams nationwide are at warning levels, with one at critical level, says the National Water Services Commission (SPAN).
SPAN said the Muda Dam, which is located in Kedah is at critical level while five others at warning level namely the Pedu and Malut dams (Kedah), Timah Tasoh Dam (Perlis), Teluk Bahang Dam (Penang), and Sembrong Barat Dam (Johor).
According to a statement and infographics posted on SPAN's Facebook page, the water level at the Muda Dam is at 90.82m, which is about 26.32% of its reserve level. Its minimum level is marked at 87.79m.
Meanwhile, water levels at the other two dams, the Pedu and Malut dams in Kedah, are 57% (88.97m) and 45.1% (67.62m) respectively.

SPAN also noted that the reserve levels for raw water and critical levels for each dam vary.
"In general, for SPAN's reference, it is at warning level when the water is at 60%, and at critical level when reserves hit 30%," it added.
SPAN noted that all 64 water treatment plants (LRA) nationwide are producing water at a normal level.
