Honour your parents, KL police chief tells SPM top scorers

KUALA LUMPUR: The recent SPM success experienced by children of police personnel and officers are testament to their parents' sacrifice, says the Kuala Lumpur police chief.

Comm Datuk Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zin said those who scored well in the SPM should not rest on their laurels.

"They should honour the sacrifices made by their parents by striving to achieve better success in the future.

"As a son of a police personnel, I know of the various challenges faced by families in the police force. I hope all the students cherish their achievements," he said in his speech after presenting certificates of excellence to children of police personnel, who did well in the recent SPM, during an event at the KL police headquarters on Tuesday (July 4).

A total of 43 students received the certificates of excellence.

The success achieved in SPM should be used as a stepping stone for the students to gain more success, he said.

"The achievements today will not guarantee that you will do well in the future, thus don't take it for granted.

"All the students have a long way to go in their lives and I wish them nothing but the best in their endeavour," he said.

Comm Mohd Shuhaily said the “A” achieved is good in terms of academics.

"However, students should also target to get an A, in terms of respect and obedience to their parents.

"You will carry that A for the rest of your lives," he reminded the students.

He also reminded all police personnel and officers to take good care of their respective families despite the challenges faced.

"I hope all families in the police force will continue to persevere," he said.

Comm Mohd Shuhaily said the event was meant to honour the students as well as their parents.

"I am grateful to be able to share their happiness as we all belong in the police family," he said.
