Foreigner seriously hurt in fight at KL flat, brother-in-law nabbed

KUALA LUMPUR: A foreign man was seriously injured following a fight with his brother-in-law.

Wangsa Maju Deputy OCPD Deputy Supt D. Saralathan said the incident occurred on Sunday (July 2).

"We received a distress call at 5.34am about a fight between two men at a flat in Kampung Baru Air Panas Setapak here.

"We were also told that one of the men was unconscious and lying on the floor near the lift lobby there," he said when contacted on Thursday (July 6).

He said police immediately went to the scene and arrested a local man who was believed to be involved.

"Our investigations revealed that the suspect and victim, both aged 53, were brothers-in-law.

"They were believed to have got into a heated argument over a past problem," he said, adding that the victim suffered multiple injuries and was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment.

He said the case has been classified as voluntarily causing grievous hurt using a weapon.

"The suspect was remanded for seven days and will be charged in court today.

"We urge the public not to take matters into their own hands," he said.
