KOTA KINABALU: A landslide along Jalan Penampang-Tambunan has partially blocked off half the road here on Thursday evening (July 6).

The landslide occurred following intermittent heavy rain here and surrounding areas over the past three days.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department, a report came in at 4.50pm and a team from the Penampang fire station was dispatched.

"There was some soil erosion at the hilly section which caused soil, trees and branches to fall onto the road, blocking the lane that leads towards Tambunan.

He added that work to clear the road is being carried out by a concessionaire appointed by the Public Works Department.

"No victims were reported and the team ended the operation at 6.06pm after ensuring the area was safe," said the spokesman.
