A SHORT film starring pupils and teachers from SJK (T) Jalan Yahya Awal won the first prize in a short film competition hosted by Universiti Sains Malaysia’s Indian Cultural Society, Malaysia Nanban reported.

The film, which is about the school, was directed by M. Dunes Raj, a former pupil of the Johor Baru Tamil school, headmaster S. Jeganathan said. It won the top prize at the Kavipadum Thendral 2023 competition.

Jeganathan said the young director showed great talent and professionalism, and he had made the school proud.

> The paper also reported about a man in Tamil Nadu, India, who destroyed an ATM with an axe after it failed to dispense cash.

The 53-year-old from Vellore was apparently trying to withdraw money at a private bank’s ATM near Oosoor multiple times, but he became frustrated when his card kept getting rejected by the machine.

He went back to his house and returned to the bank with an axe.

He then bashed the ATM with the weapon.

Other customers who saw it tried to stop him but he kept attacking the machine until it was destroyed.
