'Thank you MCA and MIC,' says Umno youth chief

PETALING JAYA: Umno youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh has expressed thanks to MCA and MIC for staying loyal to Barisan Nasional.

He likened Barisan to a house that needed to be repaired by all those within together.

"Thank you MCA and MIC for the loyalty before, now and forever.

"This (Barisan) is a house that we need to rebuild together," he said in an Instagram post on Saturday (July 8).

"No one is taking advantage of anyone. We complement and respect each other," Dr Akmal added.

On Friday (July 7), MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong rejected the offer made by Perikatan Nasional election Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor to join forces.

Dr Wee simply wrote "No" in a brief reply on his Facebook.

Meanwhile, MIC president Tan Sri Vigneswaran thanked Perikatan for their offer, adding "but we will say no for now."

Both Barisan component parties had earlier announced that they would not be contesting in the upcoming elections in six states.
