Lorry driver arrested over false police report

AMPANG JAYA: A fake insurance claim was thwarted by the police after a "victim" filed a fake police report.

In a statement on Sunday (July 9), Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said a man had filed a report on Friday (July 7) that his motorcycle had gone missing after it was parked at the Taman Kosas flat.

He said at about 1pm on the same day, Ampang police arrested the suspect within the compounds of the district police headquarters as he was suspected of making the false report.

"Checks showed that the 54-year-old lorry driver had made the fake report to file an insurance claim after being cheated into buying the motorcycle; he paid RM2,000 for the vehicle. “The suspect has since been remanded until July 10," he said.
