Cops cripple drug rings, nab three in Sepang and Shah Alam

SHAH ALAM: Police have seized over RM7.4mil worth of drugs and crippled two syndicates in Sepang and Shah Alam.

Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Datuk Seri Mohd Kamarudin Md Din said police raided a house in Sepang at around 6pm on Wednesday (July 5) and arrested a 44-year-old man.

"The man then led police to another house where we found 46.3kg of methamphetamine and 1.5kg of ketamine worth RM1.62mil.

"Investigations revealed the suspect was allegedly involved in drug distribution activities within the Klang Valley area," he told reporters on Monday (July 10).

He said police then raided homestay in Shah Alam at around 3.40pm on Thursday (July 6) and arrested two men aged 38 and 47.

"The two men had rented the homestay in order to use it as a storage area for drugs.

"We found 169.4kg of methamphetamine and 4.8kg of Yaba pills worth RM5.8mil," he said, adding that investigations found the two men allegedly acted as transporters and distributors for the drugs.

He said checks revealed both syndicates were not connected but believed to be supplied by drug syndicates from a neighbouring country.

"Both syndicates are believed to have started operations early this year.

"They used houses to store the drugs in order to distribute them locally," he said, adding that the three suspects have been remanded for seven days to facilitate investigations.

Comm Kamarudin said all three did not have any criminal records but two of them tested positive for methamphetamine.

"We also seized a car and a pickup truck as well as two rings and a watch worth at least RM87,700.

"We are now checking if these syndicates had ties to secret societies here," he said.

He urged anyone with information on drug activities to contact the NCID hotline at 012-208 72222.
