I may forget words but my facts are still correct, says birthday boy Dr M, 98

PETALING JAYA: Birthday boy and former twice-prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir is ever ready to answer any questions.

While marking his 98th birthday on Monday (July 10), the nonagenarian said he doesn't expect everyone to support him and although he may forget some words, is ever ready to answer the media's questions.

Dr Mahathir, who is famous among reporters for his tagline "Apa nama?" whenever he forgets a word during press interviews, said this is a recorded brief "thank you" message to his media group after receiving heartfelt birthday greetings from reporters by text throughout the day.

"I thank all of you. 98 years old is very but I can still speak and am ready to be interviewed and answer your questions.

"Fortunately for me, I can answer well although I may forget some words, but largely I can still remember all the past history and answer all the questions you put to me.

"I hope our relationship will continue to be good. I don't expect everyone to support me but I do expect everyone to write true facts and not change what I say to something else," said Dr Mahathir in his message.

Dr Mahathir was until the last general election the Langkawi MP, but despite not being an elected politician, he is still very much in the news for his political statements.
