Ipoh daycare manager, two teachers held for alleged child abuse

IPOH: A daycare centre manager and two teachers have been arrested for allegedly causing physical harm to a two-year-old child.

Ipoh OCPD Assistant Comm Yahaya Hassan said the suspects, aged between 26 and 51, were arrested together on Thursday (July 6).

“Earlier that day, a 31-year-old father lodged a report (claiming) his daughter had been harmed by her teachers at the daycare.

“He noticed that the girl had an injury on her left hand after he picked her up from the centre in Taman Meru Perdana 2,” he said in a statement on Monday (July 10).

ACP Yahaya said all three suspects are being remanded for seven days from Saturday to Friday (July 8 to 14).

“Following the report, the three suspects were called to give their statements at the Ipoh district police headquarters. They were arrested after that.

“Since the arrests, we received five more police reports by parents who also sent their children, aged one to two years old, to the same daycare.

“The investigation is ongoing and once it is complete, we will submit the paper to the deputy public prosecutor's office for the next course of action,” he said.
